The Assistant Directing program was created to give young theatre artists the opportunity to explore the field of stage direction as part of the Lab Company, a summer repertory training program.  Designed for undergraduate or post-undergraduate students with a preliminary interest in directing, the mission of the program is to expose young theatre artists to several professional directors and their processes in preparation for launching their own journey as a director.

The Hangar Theatre Lab Company provides Assistant Directors:

One assistant directing assignment on the Mainstage
One assistant directing assignment in the Wedge season
One children’s theatre assistant directing assignment
Classroom and ensemble projects
Opportunity to direct side projects, if desired
Master classes in directing
Post performance discussions with directors of Mainstage shows
