The Hangar Theatre is a nationally-recognized professional theatre. Located in beautiful Ithaca, New York, the Hangar is home to the Lab Company, an intensive summer repertory training program for young professionals in acting, directing, design, and playwriting. Lab Company artists are selected via a competitive national search. The Lab Company runs during the Hangar's summer season, June to August; the season encompasses more than twenty productions on our Mainstage, KIDDSTUFF, and Wedge stages.

Twenty-six actors, eight designers, five assistant directors, and four playwrights will be invited to participate in the 2009 Lab Company. In addition, four directors will be selected by the Drama League Directors Project to serve as the artistic leadership of the Lab Company.

Lab Company artists attend master classes taught by professional guest artists. Each Lab Company artist is cast in, assistant directs, or designs a new production every two weeks, totaling at least four different productions during his or her residency at the Hangar Theatre.
